Abstrak
Padang State University Tennis team is currently training for Indonesian University Games. Currently, there is no feedback to determine if there are any improvements to performance outcome measure (Force generated when hitting the tennis ball). One of the important factors in tennis is to hit a fast ball during the game. Servicing a faster ball or conducting a forehand/backhand stroke with a faster ball can increase the opportunity to gain a point and as a consequence a player can win a match. To generate a fast ball in the serve or the forehand/backhand stroke, a player needs to exert greater force at the impact. A property of a tennis racket and the material and tension of strings also influence a ball speed in the serve and the strokes. Knowing force acting on the ball exerted by a tennis player through a tennis racket can be useful information for the player and coach to modify a player’s stroke technique. Hence the objective of this study was to measure force acting on the strings of the tennis racket at impact when performing the forehand tennis stroke.
